Customizing the WebDirect Home Screen
IntermediateModify the FileMaker WebDirect home screen to match your brand and improve the user experience.
What you'll learn
- Modifying the WebDirect home screen title and content
- Adding a custom logo and branding CSS
- Redirecting users directly to a specific FileMaker file
- Creating custom error pages for expired sessions
When users navigate to your FileMaker Server URL, they see the WebDirect home screen -- a list of available databases. This screen can be customized: you can set a custom title, add a logo, modify the CSS, or redirect users directly to a specific file so they never see the home screen at all.
The WebDirect home screen files
The WebDirect home screen is served from a directory on the FileMaker Server machine. On macOS: `/Library/FileMaker Server/HTTPServer/htdocs/`. On Windows: `C:\Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server\HTTPServer\htdocs\`. The main WebDirect files are in the `fmwebdirect` subdirectory. Modifying these files requires care -- FileMaker Server upgrades may overwrite your customizations.
