Claris ID and FileMaker Cloud Authentication
IntermediateUnderstand how Claris ID works as the identity provider for FileMaker Cloud and what it means for your users.
What you'll learn
- What Claris ID is and how it differs from local FileMaker accounts
- How to add users to a FileMaker Cloud deployment
- Claris ID MFA and security settings
- The limitations of Claris ID for on-premises deployments
FileMaker Cloud -- Claris's hosted FileMaker service -- uses Claris ID as its sole authentication method. Users log in with a Claris ID account rather than a traditional FileMaker username and password. Understanding Claris ID helps you manage users on FileMaker Cloud and understand what is different from on-premises deployments.
What Claris ID is
Claris ID is a cloud-based identity provider operated by Claris (the FileMaker subsidiary of Apple). Every user who logs into FileMaker Cloud must have a Claris ID -- an account at id.claris.com. Claris ID accounts are managed by the user and the Claris ID administrator for your organization, not inside the FileMaker file.
